Silverstone Grand Parade
Yawn.
You barely even needed to watch the top five. Early on it looked like it would be a good race. Alonso, Kimi, and Schumacher were pretty close together and the almost pass of Kimi by Schumacher made me think this would be an exciting one. Other then that all moves happened in the pit lane. Alonso ran an almost perfect race and Ferrari will really have to step up to have hopes of beating them. JPM was pretty far off the pace of his teammate, again. Am I wrong in saying that the gap in talent between Montoya and Raikkonen is bigger then the gap between Massa and Schumacher? The only person that came close to impressing me over the weekend was Heidfeld, who would have/might have beaten Montoya if it weren't for that pit stop that cost him a bunch of time. BMW has a very good chance of being the #4 team this year (especially with Honda's reliability and Button's driving) and could be competitive in years to come. I'd really like to see Alonso DNF to make this season more competitive again. I have no idea why Alonso wants to go to McLaren while Renault looks this strong. Kimi must be thinking "be my guest."

Re: Silverstone Grand Parade
Didn't even watch. That said.... Come on Alonso DNF! It'd be nicer if the season was more closely fought.
Heidfeld needs a drive in one of the top teams rather than the midfield, he has to be the best starter on the grid.

Re: Silverstone Grand Parade
What a snooze fest of a race. I was expecting Ferrari to be a lot quicker compared to Renault. I think they should have been, but Schumacher a)underperformed in qualifying b) was trying to be clever and save tyres for the race, c) or maybe Massa is the best of the teammates out there? In the end saving tyres worked for him getting past Kimi eventually but by then Alonso was uncatchable. Alonso and Renault are the F1 equivalent of Loeb and Citroen.
I can understand why Alonso decided to sign for McLaren at the time he did. With uncertainty over Renaults commitment and McLarens ability to make the tyres work under last year's rules. But things have changed a lot since then and it is looking a bit silly at the moment. Still an awful lot will change before he swaps over and it may well proove to be not such a bad idea afterall. |

Re: Silverstone Grand Parade
With Bridgestone as the sole supplier in 2007, it'd seem a move to Ferrari by any driver is about the only move you'd call a smart one (Though even that depends on whether Schumi wants to warm the No 1 drivers seat for a few more years)

Re: Silverstone Grand Parade
So, I record the races and watch them when I can. So excuse my late response. But what's with the CBS announcers and the one guy's call for a ban on blocking in F1 (for those of you who watched it here)? Am I the only one that thinks that is bizarre?

Re: Silverstone Grand Parade
One of the CBS announcers also said something to the effect that "Jaques and Gilles Villeneuve were looking forward to the Canadian GP".... Well, at least its off CBS for the rest of the season and back on Speed.
