stop rust

has any one ever used por15 i bouhgt a starter kit i love this stuff post if you have ever used it or have any advice about useing it

POR-15 is also be my choice in products. It's all that I would use on my rods, largely because they actually back their product up.

Although the UV rays really effect it so it fades quickly, then it looses it's effectiveness. So if you use the product get it painted quickly.
Also regular paint and primers won't stick to it, you need to use the por-15 primer first and regular paint will stick to it.

I have used the por15, and would have to agree it works pretty well, if you follow the instructions...

Doesn't work in Canada.

It is worn off within one good winter.

Only way to stop rust is to get an underbody oil treatment which soaks into the rust and stops it immediately.

can you explain further? ... how does soaking oil into rusty metal stop the rust?

how is it applied? just a thorough spray?

anything special about the oil ? what kind ?

On minor rust it will soak into it and stop any further rust from happening and stops it right in its tracks.

It is applied in a spray that creeps into all the crevices and get to where the painted on stuff will not touch.

You apply it every spring to stop the heat and the water interacting with the salt from the winter to really advance the rust fast.

Mine is going in the spray shop tomorrow. They even spray inside the doors.

thanks. I work with steel in a non-automotive way, I build musical instruments from steel, and I am always looking for ways to prevent, slow down, or remove rust, in the process of building instruments until they're ready for paint or chrome.

I use alot of muriatic acid (fumes will kick your ass) to remove rust.

I still don't get it ... oil stopping rust in it's tracks ... ???

anything special about the oil? WD?

no acid in the oil ?

It is an oil spray, similar to the consistency of motor oil that they spary you underside of your vehicel with, and everywhere else rust is or could happen.

I never said it would remove rust, I am saying it will stop it from getting worse.

Once you coat a metal in oil, it will stop it from interacting with moisture and oygen which are two of the main factors causing rust on our vehicles. Heat and salt act as a catalyst to make oxidation happen faster.

Once I coated my truck with Krown rust control yearly, all rust stopped in its tracks and didn't advance anymore.
