have you considered forced induction? a supercharger and or turbo(s)would be a nice addition. you could get performance spark plug wires, ignition, etc. i think that would set you up nice

I don't know a lot about the 4 cyl's so I can't help a lot.

Give us an idea of how much you want to spend. For max power I would say heads/cam with a turbo setup, but that can get into the $6000+ range, so I can understand that is probably not what you are looking for. So for a budget vehicel I would stick with a cold air intake(make sure you get one that prevents water from being sucked into the engine), Slightly larger diameter mandrel bent exhaust + headers(kinda pricey) with a high flow catalytic converter, maybe a set of underdrive pullys, a lightened flywheel, maybe if you were gonna get rims anyway you could be sure to get lightweight rims(remember that rotational mass is a large drain on power). And since you're gonna be putting oil in the thing anyway go ahead and put Amsoil synthetic motor oil in there , plus some royal purple tranny fluid, and why not some of that coolant additive (Redline) that will help keep it all cool. It has been proven by dyno (I've seen it done) with a Camaro(I know it's different) that with just the Royal Purple oil, tranny fluid, and gear box fluid yielded a 10 HP gain. That aint bad at all for minimal investment. Although for a 4 cylinder I would only expect like 5 HP, but that's not bad either.

I think after that stuff starts getting expensive.
Turbo's, supercharger, intercoolers, Nitrous, ect, ect...

First Weapon-R don't make a CAI for the Z24, it's a wai. If you want a cold air, visit http://www.sunfiregt.net/induction-dynamics/ and http://www.zed24.com/toboyz/
These 2 company make an CAI for you're Z and I can tell you that they both sound and perform very well (10hp/TOBOYZ and 6hp Induction)

If you buy an rk header you also better to install new motor mount if you don't want to experience a snapped downpipes! They are pretty cheap and they do a lot!

If you want the best exausht go there (pretty expensive tought!)

If you need any help email me [email protected] I think that I can help you a lot since I have myself a 2000 Z24 :-)
