01 Jimmy Lock Cylinder/Ignition

I have a 01 Jimmy that I bought used in 2004. No real problems with the truck up until now. My lock cylinder/ignition is messed up the ignition will not turn (hence no vechile starting or power to roll the windows up.) the steering wheel is slightly turned to the right but not so bad the the front wheels are turned. The steering wheel is also locked in position i cannot get it to move more than 1/4 inch either way.

Anyone know what might be wrong or any way I can get the lock cylinder to turn. I am leaveing on vacation tuesday morning and would really like to drive my jimmy over my wifes grand am with two kids under 4. any help/info would be apperciated.

Best bet are these two things:

1)Pull the wheel (I know it's only a 1\4") hard left and right (bang bang bang type of thing) while trying to turn the key, it usually pops the lock and releases the pressure. Be careful not to break anything of course but don't be afraid to give it some gusto.

2)If that truely doesn't work jack up both front tires to take the column pressure down a bit, spray some graphite lube into the ignition cyl lock, insert and remove the key a dozen times (to work the tumblers) then do the left\right\left\right while turning the key.

3)If ALL that fails (and 99% of the time it works) call a locksmith because something has failed in the lock itself.

Thanks for the reply I will try jacking the front wheels off the ground. I have a lock smith coming but not until this afternoon so if your idea works you just saved me some money, thanks.l
