Re: Carbon Fiber Celica Project

If its a 7th gen then ther is a complete kit that u can buy. It consists of fenders, hood, bumpers and side skirts. I've also seen a hatch made from CF on ebay. Its very expensive for all that CF stuff. I also had a crazy plan to do the same thing but I'm not a millionaire nor do I have about $5-$7 G'z just layin around with nothing to spend it on. lol carbon fiber is very hard to obtain because there is a worldwide shortage of it. Appearently the U.S. government is buying it all up and making cool stuff for the military. When this bullshit in Iraq or whereever it is comes to and end, we should be able to get it at a better price.
Here is a link to that website where u can get the full body kit...

Re: Carbon Fiber Celica Project

Hey Kenny! let us know how everything comes out, will you have the CF painted on to still get some lovely color on it? I have an import tuner mag here where they featured an NSX with CF body kit painted pearl blue so the CF would still be noticable. it looks good.

I love the Celica. its my favorite toyota car.

doors are about all he could replace after the hatch, hood, fenders, and body kit, you can't weld cf quarters, roof and the rest of the non bolt on parts onto the car

Re: Carbon Fiber Celica Project

You could make a fiberglass mold of the car and then make a CF shell from it, but you would still need a chassis to bolt it to. I'd like to do the same thing to a full frame 1st gen lift back and drop a 3sgte or
2jzgte in it

i keep reading this and i just cant wrap my head around it. carbon fiber is made by people, correct? it is not dug out of the ground like oil or something, so why can't you just make more of it? how can there be a shortage of something you just make with fiberglass and some sort of woven material?

Re: Carbon Fiber Celica Project

CF is a cloth like material with resins used to harden it. It is similar to kevlar and that is why it is so strong. So it would be easy for there to be a shortage since companies have to manufacture it and that isn't cheap. As for the top he could just coat it very carefully and use the resin to harden it in place. Oh and don't forget to get a cf gas door either.

or have a whole roof custom made out of CF. that would be awesome!
