Went to the autcross today with some friends, Pics and Vid

Well my buddy just got a brand spanking new 2006 STI, so of course he came down for some autox'ing. He already has a catback, intake, and bov. It was around a 45 second track. I was running around 46-47 consistently (sliding around like I was on bicycle tires) while the STI was hitting consistent 40-41's. I hit 43 in the STI. Let me go ahead and say that car is a fucking blast through the turns, a really nice car. MUCH MUCH better at turning than my car.

We did race though, and I pulled about 3 cars from aroud 30-80, and this was only 17psi

Here's a pic of our two cars getting some last minute supplies for the autox.

Here's the vid, you can't really see all that much, but its funny as hell to listen to us giggling the whole time because I can't get traction. Mind you these are really good 235 tires. You can't really hear it in the video, but there is a constant squeel pretty much when I was on the track. Probably got around 15-20 runs in, going back tommorrow for some more fun.

Seems like less people post now with the new setup... Anyway how do you think an awd dsm would fair in the autox. Namely a 95 tsi lowered on some good rubber with a full set of suspension bushings

Re: Went to the autcross today with some friends, Pics and Vid

better, but still not that good. these cars just arent built for autox. but imo it doesnt matter how well you do, its about learning how to contol ur car and having fun

Too heavy too. Weight on these cars are also all messed up.

I heard that with the boxer the center of gravity is alot closer to the ground therefor making handle great. But I've never driven one so I couldnt tell

The STI weighs more than a dsm but still out preforms it.

Re: Went to the autcross today with some friends, Pics and Vid

and it's not just the AWD either, the STI was designed to turn, DSM's were not

but when it comes to straightline, we know who's faster

Hey crunchy you say you pulled on that STI at 17 psi. Thats pretty impressive any idea how much hp your making at 17? DId you try him from a stop? Just wondering if you could catch his launch (actually I should rephrase that "just wondering how soon you would catch his launch "?

Re: Went to the autcross today with some friends, Pics and Vid

at 16-17ish it made 250/295, much better numbers soon

I don't really race from a stop, not trying to break anything
