rmps going crazy???

I need HELP. Well i guess i could say IM NOT HAPPY ! I went into a oil change shop to get a routine oil change. Got directly on the freeway - no problems. Got off the freeway and when i let off the gas and came to a complete stop the rpms that originally idle at just under 1000 kept jumping down to about 200 like it was going to stall out and starting back up. I am still having this problem. Well i of course went back to the oil change shop because i was not having this problem before. They checked it out and denied causing the problem and told me that it had to be something in the o2 sensor. I of course dont know that much about cars but that kind of problem doesnt sound really cheap. Does this problem sound fimaliar to anybody out there i could really use some feedback before i go sinking a whole bunch of money into a problem that was never a problem in the first place.

Re: rmps going crazy???

Is this one of the quick change places that perform an x-point safety inspection as part of the oil change? If so, maybe the knocked a vacuum line loose or didn't get the air intake hose tightened properly when checking the air filter, etc.

I'd suggest you check (or have the lube place check) the vacuum line to the EGR valve as well as the clamps on the air intake hose at the throttle body and Mass AirFlow (MAF) sensor. Also, make sure the MAF sensor electrical connector is plugged in and that the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connection is plugged in.
