Thinking about buying a '99 LHS...

Im looking at buying a '99 LHS to drive back and forth from college, it has 70k miles and its in excellent shape. The asking price is 6,999 is this a good deal, and what common problems should i look for?

Re: Thinking about buying a '99 LHS...

The LHS is on the LH platform series, connected to the 300m, concorde, and intrepid if you didn't already know. So the problems encountered with those cars are typically the same ones you'll see on the LHS and throughout the platform.

I don't recall any specific LHS problems in '99 but the closest model to the LHS is the 300m and the '99's had problems on ocasion with the windows, motors prematurely failed, weak glass mount-glass would come off track, 'light show' problem with flickering lights internally, the transmission oil cooler lines could 'drip'-leak from the rubber/metal change all years, those are the only ones that stand out, and that I can remember now. There aren't any major or really bad 'problems' with the '99 M and I don't think there were any with the LHS. Obviously that doesn't mean the one your looking at is perfect, each car has it's own history and possible problems.

You can check out some of the problems with the early version of the m and possibly find some issues with the LHS on the 300m Enthusiasts Club message board, there are a few members with concordes/intrepids or LHS cars on the board as well. Just do a search or look in the problems/complaints forum for issues with '99 versions.

BTW: When I was shopping for my M I was considering an LHS because of the similarities.

Have 99 LHS 3.5 V6 A sweet riding car.

Replaced leaking waterpump at 75,000 miles and changed all belts along with that.

At the moment, 99k miles, have no shiftup and no speedometer. Suspect a bad speed module.

Replaced both input and output sensors. All is back to normal.
