Thumbs up Honda NSR500 spencer

Thbis is a project which i've started to go on with after the suzuki RG500 sheene machine.

I build the engine parts, but it's not finished jet.
The chassis is alsi glueed together and painted aluminium.

This is the basis for the bike i'm gonna build.

This will be the bike i'm gonna build ( with clearcowl, to see the engine parts ) .

These are the pictures of the engine yesterday

I've painted a few more details yet and added some more parts.
The fittings of this kit are perfect and the lines to paint the bleu are also no the cowl and tank-seatcover .
I'm building it to spencers specs because i also have a Honda NS500 '83 GP racer waiting to be build.

Thank you, Roca.
I like to watch your Aprillia, that's what i call a nice build!!!!

I finished the engine today by painting the last part ( ignitioncoils )and weathering them.

I also finished the rear shockabsorber.
The original spring from tamiya is black, but i wantet to add some more color to this part. So i painted it silver first and put two layers of clear blue over it.
I kind of like the result

The swingarm is assembled to and put the decals on the rear wheel.

I must say the tiredecals went on very well. Those studio27 decals are very thin and easy to work with.

Thanks for lookin'
Denman

Unhappy Re: Honda NSR500 spencer

After three days of work in Berlin and 18 houres of sleep i was dieing to do something to do on the NSR.
So i fitted the engine and rearwheelsection and added some small parts to the chassis.

I must say, i find the results ok.
Next are the exhaustpipes which are semiblack coated, so i don't have to give them a heated paint

Till soon, keep up the good work.

Re: Honda NSR500 spencer

First I want to thank you all for the positive comments, thank you

But now i've a little problem.
I want to make the springs on the exhaustpipes . But how do I make springs with a diameter of 0,3mm .

Is there anyone who knows how to do it?

Kind regards
Denman

Re: Honda NSR500 spencer

Hey Denman,

The only way is to take some really small diameter wire and wrap it around another wire, pin, or rod in the diameter and length you want to make the spring. Slip the coil off and make the ends into hooks. Not too hard to do, but at .3mm, might be fun to work with.

The Wave springs are pretty good for that, but they only go down to 1mm, so the might be a bit big.

Re: Honda NSR500 spencer

There is a breif mention somewhere around here about how someone wrapped super fine wire around a drill bit to make the springs. I don't know if you can search after it, but if hunt around a bit you might find it?

I've tryed to wind some .1 mm wire around some other .3mm wire and i'm very happy with the result.
But i let the spring fel to the floor and now i have to do it four times over again.
No worries, it will come to a good end .

For the springs i use old speakercable for carstereo's with an overal diameter of .7 mm and is build up out of 8 0.1mm wires. I wind the wire around a wire, i found in a sparebox, with a diameter of 0.3 mm and denman has his spring

Re: Honda NSR500 spencer

The springs on de exhaust are finished, and the seatcover is finished with the decals.

The springs

The seatcover.
The blue is painted with Humbrol nr15.

One of the exhausts had to be worked out a little bit to fit well.
The next step will be the frontfork.

Re: Honda NSR500 spencer

The exhaust cans are only a push fit onto the pipes so the springs are used to keep them under tension, plus it makes it easier to change them in a hurry.
