Tires: What do you guys use?

Hey all. I have a 89 T-Type that came stock with 215/65R15 tires. The ones on my car now are dry-rotted from having sat in a field for the past 5 years or so. I've got a budget of around $300 dollars and I'm looking to buy a set of slightly wider, sportier tires. My only restraint is that my local shop doesn't sell goodyear and since I don't feel that the current tires are safe enough for a 20 mile trip to anywhere else, I'm buying my local shop (and they help me out a lot so I like to give them buisiness).

Anyway, I would like to know if y'all had any suggestions as to a brand or size that fits my needs -- $300 for all 4 tires, sporty tread, slightly wider than stock.

From talking with the local shop, he is thinking for decent tires I'm looking at $60 and up per tire, depending on quality for the final price.

I'd just like some feedback Thanks!

Re: Tires: What do you guys use?

I have Kelly Chargers on mine but they dont seem to ride as nice as the old tires did. When I bought the car it still had the original (seemingly unrotated) tires on. The tires on the back were good but the fronts were nearly bald. I drove through a northwestern PA winter with them on and did fine. The chargers aren't nearly as sporty as the old Goodyear Eagle GT-4's were but for half the price I'll take the Kelly's.

Re: Tires: What do you guys use?

I have Mastercraft Sensys 01 tires on my 97 now, they seem OK as far as wear, grip, and gas mileage. I bought some 16" wheels (from a Bonneville) and plan to put Fuzion HRi tires on the wheels and replace the 15" ones.

The Bridgestone TRZ tires got a good review from a leading conumer magazine, and I would consider those if they go on sale rather that the Fuzion.

Note the age of the thread.

While it has been brought back from the depths, I might as well add that I ended up running out of time to screw with looking for a specific tire. I ended up getting stock-sized Jetzons. Decent price and I had to get them. When the tires that were on were pulled off I found that one of tires had several large chunks missing from them...
