Loud electrical sound from engine
When driving my 2001 Impala with traction control off, and pulling hard manuevers, i.e. fast u-turns, fast turns (hard enough that they put rubber down), and things like this, the car starts making a loud electrical sound from the engine. when i press the accelerator, it makes the normal sound of the engine, but it makes an extremely loud sound, that i describe as an electric car sound. its a whining sound. when i drop it in neutral and rev it, it still does it. my friend says its the power steering, but i dont think thats it, but not sure. any suggestions (besides driving more conservatively

Re: Loud electrical sound from engine
yes a little more info will help us. year / engine. does it only happen during turning, or even going straight. Only when you are laying down rubber or even at cruising speeds?
It may be the power steering pump, or since you are trying to put down more power with the trac off, it may have something to do with the tranny, like the driveshafts or differential. |

Re: Loud electrical sound from engine
3.4L 65000miles 2001 LS
it starts only when corning hard, but then it contines to make it for a few miles, if i'm continuing to corner or traveling straight. i would see how it is the power steering, but it makes it if i am at a standstill and i rev the engine in neutral |
