Exclamation S14 in S13 issues Help please!

Okay, I just finished my S14 SR swap in my S13, here is the questions. When I start my car it idles high and then drops "normal", but it will not idle under 1100rpm until my electric fans, lights, or power windows roll up or down, then it will drop to the normal 900rpm at idle. Once I stop this it will idle back to 1100rpm. Does anyone know how I can get my car to idle normal?

Second question, I drove my car and from what I thought it would be some great power in my car, it just didnt seem to impress me like I thought it would. plus it choked alittle at around 7000rpm. I ordered a boost controller to turn the boost up. Does anyone think my TPS is off alittle or my timing may be off??

i dunno your problem (not an sr guy). But i hear from other SR guys around my area that you should try to stay chasis specific with the swaps. I dunno why, they said its less hassle though. And its only 160whp (if that, since its old) so it shouldnt impress you to much. I wouldnt just up the boost right off the bat either since its obviously not running right.

Re: S14 in S13 issues Help please!

I was also thinking it could possibly be a loose ground that could be causing the idle issue.

The car itself is running great, no problems besides the simple idle issue, I know the wiring is correct, I had Heavy Throttle do it for me since it had to be swapped from OBD1 to OBD2. I have not heard of many people doing this swap so I thought I would do it newer Tech with the T28 and VVT. I was just expecting alittle more power, but SR's are known for their low end tourqe not their top end power also. I am new to the import scene, I have always had 5.0 mustangs.

It choked a little at 7000rpm because that's it's rev limit... so of course it choked. It cut the ignition.

Check all your vaccum lines to make sure it's not leaking and causing the erratic idle.

Check your TPS, it may be dirty or not connected fully. Did you mess with the timing prior to installing the motor (cam gears, cams, belts)? If not, it's doubtful it's off.

Also, since it's increasing idle when you use a power device such as windows or electric fans. Make sure you're Alternator is functioning properly and not causing the motor to work harder when a draw occurs.

No, the idle goes down when I turn something on, and idles at 900rpm. It is when I have nothing going it idles at 1100rpm??

I also know the timing was messed with just the main timing not cam gears or anything.

Ok, so it does the opposite of what I thought it's doing... ok, even still check your electical system. It seems you're still getting a huge power draw from your electrical system when you use something that uses electricity (obviously).

Make sure there aren't any bad wires, or connetions. It sounds like you've got a voltage spike or something draging the motor down when something is used.

If everything looks ok, I'd suggest taking it to somebody and having it diagnosed.

Re: S14 in S13 issues Help please!

Have u tried adjusting ur idle at the valve in the intake manifold?....i think it's inbetween the 2nd and 3rd pipe's (ports,or whatever u want to call them,LOL dont remeber off hand ) but anyway it's usually a phillip's head screw driver. AIV valve OR AAC valave or some shit.....the idle drops on any car when u put loads on the engine( wipers, windows, lights, rear defog, ETC...)
Try removing the thottle pipe and with the car OFF see if the throttle plate is fully closed or not. If ur car is a 1989 or 90 the throttle cable might be to short and that could be ur problem. As for ur choking problem at 7000rpm not sure, but the ignition kill isn't at 7000rpm cause mine have all gone to at least 7600rpm...one of mine even went to 8200rpm!...check out that stuff, hope i gave u some good advice.
