1. i need to go easy on it for atlease 500 miles right?
2. what kind of oil should i now use and how often should i change it at first?
3. is there anything else i should know about a newly rebuilt engine (maintance, tips, things i need to do, things to look for, ect..)

thanks again i know everybody is probally getting tired of seeing all my threads full of questions but i apreciate you guys helping me out.

Re: Almost Time

Being drunk.....I will answer with what I did. Nothing more.

1. I went easy (never over 4500 RPM's) for 750 miles.
2. I am still using conventional oil. Motor has 1300 miles. I was having pushrod length issues when I first drove it. I was flooding out the cylinders a bit then. So I changed the oil more often than most would even for a fresh motor.
I changed the oil once after idling for 30 minutes. Then again after about 100 miles. Then again after 250 miles. Then again after 500 miles. And once again...at 1000 miles. On the last change before Mobil 1 5w-30.
Gets synthetics at around 1750-2000 miles. Just make sure the rings have set. Then switch over.
3. Just keep an eye on things. Make sure oil pressure remains steady. Make sure it isn't eating oil. Etc....

Re: Almost Time

I wouldn't cross the 3500 range for a while.
