98 Avalon Dome Light

I am still trying to get the gremlins out of my recently purchased 98 avalon. My last challenge (I hope) is the Dome, courtesy kittle ones in the door panels). Neither will come on at all. I changed the fuse even though the clock and other things on the circuit were working. also,changed the dome light bulb. The dome light will not work at all....neither ON switch nor open door position of switch. apparently I'm not getting any voltage. I understand there is a trick on this model that keeps the dome light on for a minute or so after exiting etc. Could this be the problem? Any thoughts before I start following wires? Thanks , Ken
