Re: Spark plugs

pretty sure you don't want to do it yourself. i'm doing a swap on my galant and i still wouldn't touch my eclipse's stuff just because i don't know it that well.

i had a mechanic friend that did the labor and parts on 3kgt (same motor pretty much) and it was 150$ ... so shop around.

if you do decide to do it yourself, you may need this

I was just thinking about that so I looked inside to see where my plugs were and I only saw like 3 of them. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the hell the others were at. I have changed many plugs in my cars before and I can't believe these are where they are. Another way for mitsubishi to make money by making us take our cars in to get that done.

Re: Spark plugs

Yeah i really didnt pay attention intil i changed the plugs in my grand Prix, and i noticed that, that was hard enough. so i looked under the hood of the eclipse and i was just wondering is there anybody on the forums that change there plugs< i might just get them changed while the car is still under warranty but i gotta check to see when warranty is up. it has 34000 miles on it with extended warranty. the other one are under the intake Manifold the only reason i say that i looked at where the the 1st 3 wire ran to and i found the coil and say where the other 3 ran so i assumed it was under there< i'm sure its not as hard as it looked < but i wouldn"t try it intil i read up on it< like those repair books from Autozone

Re: Spark plugs

to be perfectly honest with you all, it isnt THAT big of a problem. Yeah it's not as easy as a RWD car, or a big V8, but it isnt really rocket science either. I can understand if some people arent comfortable taking off the manifold themselves, but it isnt that crazy of a project, take a couple hours, take your time, and everything will be alright.

Re: Spark plugs

i would do it, but like i said after i read up on the project, i not going to try it without know a clue of what to do and not do< i know how to change plugs and all so i have the knowledge, but just looking at the project doesnt tell me anything< i might get under there and turn out you have to take the fuel rail or injectors out or something like that< and i might not have the tool to do that. ( i will change them if i read up on it 1st)

to bad you dont have a 4 banger very easy on that motor.
from what i see in the service manual (witch i recomend everyone should download :heres the link just DL each one and print it for the whole book
you have to remove the intake manifold to get to the wires.
