I just recently purchased a 95 ga with a 3.1L sfi. I took it in for an etest and it failed. the results where high NO, and the pamphlet said egr inoperative/defective, lean air/fuel mixture, and inoperative catalatic converter (3 way catalyst only) So i got the egr valve replaced for $328 and i am just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue. I need to get it plated. thanks to all those who reply. And i must mention that the old egr valve has 3 solenoids and 2 solenoids had problem and was wondering if thats the full problem.

Re: Failed e-test
Remove the EGR again and clean the passages to the engine. They will clog and cause the same problems as if the egr was not functioning. I would do this before trying again. Simply use throttle body cleaner to clean the carbon out of these passages. I removed the phlenum on one I cleaned and sprayed the entire phlenum to get the carbon out. A gun brush will also help to clean these passageways if you don't want to remove the top end. Good Luck!
