How does a piece just disappear?

Grr, I can't for the life of me find this one missing piece. It's like an elongated tube and I was testfitting it this morning to onto the YZF-R1 engine. I left both in the same place on my modeling table and left the house, and when I got back it wasn't there. I was the last to leave the house and first to come home, and nobody broke in, we don't have any pets...GRR!!! I searched everywhere, even cleaned up my modeling table ( :o ) not an easy task..it's a pretty big piece too, probably an inch long..

Now (hopefully) I didn't search hard enough...or it maybe got snagged onto my clothing and is now gone forever in the streets of Philadelphia...I really hope it is the former case..

Whoever invents a magnet for polystyrene will be a god amongst modelers :silly2:

Man! that stinks I really hope you find it. But if you don't jfind it just leave the engine cowls on and noone will ever know. I hope you find it, if you dont do you think you might be able to scratch build it?

See, daggerlee... you didn't sacrifice enough extra plastic from the parts trees to the floor gods. The floor gods get angry when you don't give them any extra plastic, and start swallowing up parts of value!

At least that's my theory... Maybe I need to check my respirator for leaks.

Sometimes a piece can sit right under your nose, only you don't notice it. Then you kick yourself when you find it there.

yep, you know those floor gods. Just hope that if you finish the model that you don't find it a day later. That always happens to me.

It always happens to me. I test fit a part (usually small) then drop it. Murphy's law takes effect there.

Try to stay calm. Once, when I was 10 or 11, I was playing with my Gundam, and a couple of tiny pieces fell off. My room was scattered with junk, and they were to little to find. I got pissed off, and ripped two comic books in half, one of them being X-Force #1 still sealed in the polybag. And you know what? I found the pieces a few minutes later. Don't get mad and give in to the floor demons. They are evil , and want to control your mind. Just keep hope alive!

Dunno, but certainly they do just disappear...

That just happened to my Volvo 850 BTCC Saloon - so if someone has an extra grille, please sell it to me... Though I think it's very unlikely that anyone could have an extra grille

i always seem to lose the parts that are most important

I'll list them...
I've lost :
5 Windshields
8 turn signals
3 corvette wheels ( i found them though )
and about 100 rearview mirrors (actually 20)
