water pump

what is it going to take tho change the water pump in my 97 2.2 sunfire m/t? and what is the best way to do it?

get the manual, I have done it before and it doesn't take all that long to do. It's all right where you can see it.

It takes about $45.00 at Napa for a new pump.

Go to your local library and look it up in a repair manual if you don't want to buy one.

Otherwise,it takes about an hour to do it on your own if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. Start by loosening the pulley on the pump, take the serpentine belt off, remove the pulley from the pump, remove 4 bolts holding pump, scrape old gasket off pump/block mating surface.
Re-install inverse of removal.
Don't forget, you have to bleed the system of air in the water lines after you re-do this. (You can "search" this forum for hints on how to do that.)
