Unhappy Am I crazy??

Am i totally nuts??

Can someone please tell me that I’m not crazy for notapplying for this job. I feel so annoyed at myself for not being more ambitious. Am I mad for not wanting that sort of level of commitment to a job/boss in my life? Someone tell me that I’m not crazy!

PERSONAL ASSISTANT - EXCELLENT $$$
Are you free to…

 Travel to Europe regularly?
 Provide PA support to a very busy MD?
 Dedicate yourself to the many opportunities and challenges within the world of boating!

This is a superb opportunity for a first-class Personal Assistant to join a highly successful company based in Henderson but with regular travel abroad.

Your main priority will be to provide faultless typing, administrative and personal assistant services to this very busy Managing Director. You will also need to be flexible to travel to numerous boating shows abroad to the likes of Monaco in Europe, which will certainly be hard work but lots of fun too.

To get to interview stage you will need an absolute minimum of four years experience within a Senior Level PA role. A ‘proven’ typing speed of at least 65 - 70wpm and advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills will also be required.

The successful person must present themselves in a completely professional manner and have superior communication skills. You will also need a ‘can-do’ attitude, confident but yet down-to-earth personality and a lifestyle to suit a very demanding and changeable role.

I just wanted to point out that I haven't applied for it. The thing is that I’m very happily married and also not getting any younger (so the possibility of starting a family is starting to factor quite heavily), but the chance to go to Europe all the time would be great. I just don’t think I’m at the stage in my life that I want that level of commitment to a job or boss. Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh I feel so stupid and confused!

You're right, becoming a boss or getting a real difficult job that involves a lot of traveling and/or a lot of time away from your husband and family, so maybe it's not a good idea. There's always jobs out there that have good pay and keep you near friends and family, some also have trips out-of-state, instead of out-of-the-country.

I dont think you're crazy. Having a husband makes travelling on a job very difficult. As someone who used to travel around the country for weeks at a time, I can tell you it puts a strain on relationships.

I'm not old enought to understand, but from what you are sayin...you made the right choice of not doing it!

It soundslike an excellent job but if you want a family.......then stay right were you are!

Doesn't sound like you will move, just be taking trips so I wouldn't do it if I want a family. My dad is in the navy and I'm glad he didn't have a duty station on a ship to long or he'd would be gone a lot!

Good luck Spec2!!!

I don't think I'd ever like to be anyone's personal assistant.

You are NOT crazy. I wouldn't give up a perfectly contented life to galavant about as someone's personal slave!!! If I were you, I would NOT apply for it, and see what more you can find in the same country, at the very least...

I suspect you may be a little bit crazy(check with Raf,he's the expert),ut I don't think it has any bearing on this issue!

seriously.....you two seem very happy with the way things are working at the moment.Find something more satisfying, for sure, but europe?nah...the traffic is awful, hardly any of the shopkeepers speak English,it rains a lot.......Wait a minute, that sounds like Auckland

But seriously seriously.......do the 'kids' thing!children are almost as much fun as Skylines!
