best ecu for the b16
ok guys got a lot of work done on the motor today and got most of the wiring done. my pr3 ecu wont work with this cuz my ecu harness goes to obd1. the guy at rywire i talked with said that i should use a p28 or a p06...any ideas what i should do to run this motor the best?? and also if anyone has one i need one PDQ..

Re: best ecu for the b16
i got the speedo cable gear out..it came out really easily actually! i still cant get the rear bolt out of my rear motor mount. any ideas on how to get that little bugger out cuz theres barely any clearance. i installed my ac bracket and got everything except for the fan switch hooked up.

Re: best ecu for the b16
the bolt on the rear mount thats right next to the firewall..i got the front and side bolts but theres less than 2 inches to get it from the top and i dont think i can get it from the bottom. its not stripped i just can see how i can get a socket in there to get it cuz the crossmember/firewall is in the way

Also, why the hell are you using a conversion harness? I hope you're not running a resistor box with obd1 injectors! If you use obd0 injectors, you need to wire in the resistor box. Did you wire in the 3 wires for vtec and the 4 wire 02 sensor? There is absolutely no reason to convert to obd1 anymore. Most people will argue for tuning reasons, but there is just as much obd0 tuning software widely available, as there is obd1 software, if not more. Let me guess, you thought because your motor was OBD1, you had to convert your cars wiring to obd1? Wrong... OBD refers to "on board diagnostics, which refers to NOTHING more than the ecu, wiring, and distributor. All you had to do was plug in your stock harness (convert to mpfi first and add vtec if your car is a dx), and run a obd0 b16 distributor. I sure hope you converted your car to mpfi if it wasn't an Si or Hf. If not, you have ALOT of wiring ahead of you, including the OBD1 wiring you must do as well. You can run obd0 intake manifolds, harnesses, distributors, and ecu's on obd1/2 motors and vice versa. That is never a problem.

Re: best ecu for the b16
good i never wanted to do all that obd-1 crap anyway. it would have costed to much. and for the rear mount bolt. i went from the side with a 14mm long socket and put a foot long extension on it. it wasent on the bolt all the way but worked to get it loose. they arent on there that good i dont think. at least not the 2 crx's ive takin apart. good luck. and i did the same thing kinda. i had to install the rear braket for the mount while the engine was already in. took some friends to hold it in place but we got it. it was pretty easy.

Re: best ecu for the b16
i dont have the motor in the car yet im still waitin on my mounts..even with it out its gonna be a pain. it was an si so dont worry i kno all what i need and i did convert it to obd1 cuz i had rywire send me a dyno tuned p08 with chip. itll run just a little rich so i can rip around if i want to
i installed obd0 injectors and i just need do run wires for my fan switch which wont be hard. rywire hooked me up with the ecu jumper conversion w/ vtec and o2 sensor. all im waitin on now is the mounts which are supposed to to come tomorrow, my linkage which will be here tues (hopefully) and my new ecu on tues. im gonna have a good garage sale of parts once i get the car workin and get back from my trip. so let me kno if you need anything from a d16a6. if the mounts get here tomorrow i might go home and finish my wiring and get that shift linkage out if i can. can i use anything to get it loose or just a punch? i figure ill just get the motor mounted in and all the wires connected so i can plug the ecu in and install the shift linkage when it comes.

Also, there is NO such thing as dyno tuned, when it wasn't dyno tuned for your car/setup. It's somebody's guess. That's all. Hopefully it's not rich to the point where you see black smoke from unburnt fuel. Drive around like this too long, and you will wash out the rings, and you will be burning oil before no time.
