fd timing?

i think the timing on my FD is off can it be timed just by turning the motor over or with the engine off i know nothing about rotary timing ? and i drove it one day, while i think it was misfiring the next day i poured fuel injector cleaner in it then tried to start it and it just turns over sounds like its getting no fire or its just really really off
