my a/c is not helping with the 105 degree weather
Hey guys, hope you can lend some insight. I have a '93 Olds cutlass supreme that is barely blowing any air out the vents. The dash lights up for each increament to increase fan speed but there is no change. I bought a blower motor thinking that was the problem but I cannot even get the old one out. Is it under the dash or thru the firewall? There is a thick gasket included like it's in the firewall behind the alt. but the book says it's under the dash. Could it be something else? Any help would be awesome.

Re: my a/c is not helping with the 105 degree weather
i too have a 93 cutlass, but mine is a supreme, i dont know if you said yours was too, okay besides that
the fan is under the dash, on the passanger side under the dash, there is a black kick panel under the whole dash, two bolts near the top come out, and the hole thing comes out, and then the fan is right there, the bottom of it you can see. Hope this helps, let me know if you still cant find it. maybe i'll snap some pics.

Re: my a/c is not helping with the 105 degree weather
Hey XGames, are the flaps that open and close to increase or decrease airflow on vacuum lines like fords are?( you know what I'm talking about, dont think theyre really called flaps) Just trying to help,If the motors working and the flaps are stuck it wont matter what setting you turn it on,It will only blow out the same? Not trying to confuse the issue,no a/c sucks mindbender....good luck...Marshall

Re: my a/c is not helping with the 105 degree weather
well when you try to increase the fan speed, can you hear it go faster, or can you hear more rushing air, of those flaps are the problem then i assume you would hear the fan going faster and probably hear air rushing through the dash, to me it sounds like the fan just cant go faster, or your control isnt sending enough power to go faster, like your switch and all that isnt working right, try replacing the fan, since you already got the new one.

Re: my a/c is not helping with the 105 degree weather
hey thanks I found it. Unfortunately I don't know how to test the thing to see if it's the motor or something else. On another note, I think my car just took a dookie. The temp gauge was maxed out at 280 in about 5 mins. and cooled to about 180 once I started to drive it. I noticed the secondary fan isn't starting either. I will have to change out the water pump tomarrow and see if that fixes anything.

Re: my a/c is not helping with the 105 degree weather
at that temp the fan should have gone on, maybe a relay or fuse problem. but i cant be sure
also, check your coolant level, maybe its just a little low, also some could havemade its way out of the overflow tube and at least ur A/C works, mines got a small leak, and when i do get it working it works in a strange way
