Re: WANTED: Pontiac 455cid Block

Bandit,

Not good with PMs... (computer "stupid"). I have plenty of 455s. The question from me to you is: Why? For the '79 body, there were no 455s. 400 blocks are physically stroger than 455s. If you're starting a new build, base it on the 400 block (cheaper, too!). We get about $400 for a 428 or 455 block, and $150-200 for a 400. There are still thousands of 400 blocks out there. The Eagle rotating "kit" converts a 400 into the equal of a 455, plus the added benefits of smaller bearings, lighter/tougher parts and the aforementioned stronger block.

Where are you located? Feel free to e-mail me. ([email protected])

Jim

Re: WANTED: Pontiac 455cid Block

Bandit,

Don't know what e-mail address you WERE using, but it no longer matters. As of today, I've changed toa DSL system with a new address.

[email protected]

I keep 400 blocks around for this purpose. When I build a motor for a customer, the core charge for the bare block is $150. It's been cleaned and magnefluxed. If you want "special" codes (GTO, certain year T/A, etc.), it goes according to market value of the coded block (WW blocks are going for over $1K, YS blocks are about $100, unchecked).
