97 suburban -- timing chain lifetime?

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering how many kilometers (miles) the timing chain is good for in a 1997 5.7-v8 suburban.

Thanks!

Keep good oil and keep it changed regular and it may last a lifetime or out last the engine.
They are a lot better than they used to be.
Good luck MT

Re: 97 suburban -- timing chain lifetime?

Are there any warning signs that I should be looking out for?
Currently the engine is running great and it has 330,000 km on it. Oil has been changed at regular intervals throughout its lifetime.

Just keep on driving as long as it is running good no problem no sweat.
If it loses compression or quits running you might check it out.
