Plenums

So i have a question, the plenum on the 3800 series 2 engines in like the bonnevilles and grand prixs, i was wondering if they start to leak faster if the engine runs a hotter temperature or if it doesnt make a diffrence. I have a 1995 bonneville that usually runs at about 210 and it has 156000 miles on it and recently the plenum went out, my parents have a 2000 grand prix that runs at about 190 and has a 111000 miles, i was wondering if they should eventually be looking into the plenum later on down the road. they both have the same series 2 3800 V6.

Re: Plenums

GM made a revision on the plenum in 99 to fix the problem, however, they continued to use the same crappy gaskets. IF your parents's Grand Prix developes a leak, it will most likely only be an UIM gasket. The failed plenum usually affects 95-98 VIN-K 3800's, but I have seen a couple in the newer revised model too.
