Unhappy 1999 Silverado Airbag Light.

I have a 1999 Silverado and the airbag light is on. I took it into the dealer and they said the module was bad...soooo, I replaced the module but the light does not turn off. Is there something that I need to do to clear that warning code or should it do that automatically?

Re airbag light

Did you replace the module yourself or did the dealer do it?
If they replaced it for you and it did not fix the problem than you
should take it back to the dealer. The light will not reset itself.

I have a 1994 K3500 Silverado. On this vehicle, after doing repairs like you state, if I disconnect the battery overnight the codes are reset. Try doing that and see if it works for yours. If it doesn't you will need to take it to the dealer to have it reset.

re:AIRBAG LIGHT

If you disconnect the battery on a vehicle with theft lock, you will lock the radio and will have to take it to the dealer to get that fixed as well as your airbag light.

It could be a bad sensor or something with the computer.

only if theftlock is enabled, which in fact on a factory radio is crazy anyway. why would anyone want to steal a factory radio, when most any aftermarket is far better? (unless your system is a Bose)

just remove the positive battery cable from the battery and hold it to the negative side for about 2 mins with the ingition turned on. this will drain all the power out of the vehicle. then turn ign off and reconnect the cables. this works 80 % off the time and if this doesn;t work you need to take it to the stealer.

if your radio gets locked i am pretty sure somewhere on here there is a post on how to get the code, or it may be in your manual.
