The Countdown's Started

The car is completely put back together, except for some interior. Tomorrow, I'm getting AAA to tow it to a shop for free, they're AAA techs. I'm having the battery tray welded in, getting a new stock exhaust system and the Z28's inspection.

A few questions, my license plate fit in back but the holes are different on the front. Was there a license plate holder that went there?

Anyone hear horror stories about AAA? Last second doubts.

Re: The Countdown's Started

Yea the holder's holes are farther apart than the plate's. Why are you getting it towed? AAA has worked out good for people i know.

Re: The Countdown's Started

Because I'd have to duct tape the battery tray and battery in again and take it onto a main road. Plus the tow is free XD

Re: The Countdown's Started

for my car.. there was no license plate holder in the front... there was holes in the grill though.. or you can stick it by your windshield inside if you have a new grill.

Re: The Countdown's Started

i know in some states (like here in MD) u can get a ticket for not having the front plate mounted to the vehicle. and the only thing i don't like about AAA is that they sometimes take a long time to dispatch someone out to help u (they were going to leave my cousin in a bad part of baltimore city overnight in her car. she had to have the police force AAA to help her then and there)

Baltimore is nothing but tourists and bad apples, there were scam artists all over the place when we went to the National Aquarium. Sorry if you live there but that was that impression it made on me.

Re: The Countdown's Started

Tell me if you haven't heard this one before, tech calls me up a day later from when I brought it in "We can't do an inspection without an exhaust"

Me: *stands there for half a minute* "...But I told you to put on an exhaust"
"O RLY? sorry the paper said 'check exhaust'"
Me: "It's just a slight miscommunication"
"no problem we'll put one on there for you, no problem"

I wasn't sleeping at night thinking about it...seriously, but it's alright now.

So I went down to the shop just now, saw my car looking good with a new cat back exhaust, battery. They did the inspection today and it passed safety, I needed new windshield wipers..aside from that, here's what they found

Too many hydrocarbons (i know these having something to do with emissions right?)

The fans still don't work and temp gauge still doesn't work.

Re: The Countdown's Started

you stuck with the fans/temp gauge or just havent gotten around to it? if you're stuck, ill just say what you prolly already know. check and see if theres any power getting to the fans, check that fan switch between the 6 and 8 cylinders, the relays, temp sensor, temperature sending unit, the fan motors...blah blah blah. i replaced every part of my fans, motor, blade and all before realizing there just wasnt any power getting to them. now the primary doesnt come on until 260. my air dam does such a good job at keeping the engine cool that i havent gotten around to it...anyway, good to hear it passed, sounds like shes coming along

Re: The Countdown's Started

They're going to see about the fans and gauge because the engine is overheating again (problem when I first bought it, which I fixed, go figure) but where could the hydrocarbons be coming from?

Re: The Countdown's Started

hydrocarbons was the e-check right? You might need a new cat to fix that or a big tune-up. How did you get plates before an inspection?
