2002 Spyder won't start

My 2002 Spyder was perfect until my boyfriend decided to tighten the batt. cables. Shut down and wouldn't crank even with a jump. So, $85 later for a tow home, the BF put on new cables and a new batt. Still won't start even tho' the engine turns over and over. Mechanic on the ph. said the slow-blow fuse on the cable was arced and the computer might be fried. Another mechanic thought the keys had to be programmed. Fuses checked and look good. Sorry I went to the wrong forum earlier....Ty for the advice, GT.

so you turn the key and nothing happens. if thats the case your BF 99% chance disconnected the main ground like an ass, and in turn fried the fuse to your starter. (this happend to me already thats how i know what happend)
there are 2 fuse boxes one in the engine bay and another by drivers door. (just in case you didnt know) look for the one that shows a pic of a key i think, that should be the one for the starter if thats not fried IDK. if it is replace it, then you might have to replace your starter because the solinoid on thats probally fried also. you can tell its fried by trying to start the car. the starter will keep cranking and wont stop. or it wont even turn over. If it dosnt turn over its the starter not the ECU. The ECU has nothing to do with the car turning over. but if it does turn over but wont fire it could be tons of other things.

Re: 2002 Spyder won't start

TY 808....the car turns over but, won't fire. Hmmm...perhaps it is time to fire the BF. Towing to the dealership for a diagnostic tomorrow. However, now that I have more info, I feel better about not being scammed. Sure hope it is just the starter and not the ECU. TTMS

Um....yeah.......im gonna try and not sound like a dick when I say this but.....the main difference between a regular Eclipse and an Eclipse Spyder is that, well....the Spyder is a Spyder (aka a CONVERTABLE!!!) Thats the only difference....so this is why your GF can tell a spyder from a coupe. Thats why with toyota's MR2, they call it a spyder because its convertable.....some companies also call them Cabriolet like VW and other Euro cars
