2000 LS V8, hesitation...HELP

I have 2000 LS V8. If I drive it for an extended period of time (like probably around 1 hours straight) it starts to hesitate when shifting from 1st to 2nd. When it tries to shift, there is a humming noise that sounds like somthing might be slipping, then it finally catches and shifts.

Does anyone else have this problem? What might be the cause?

Check the transmission fluid, if it smells burnt (basically, if it has any odor that you can easily smell) change the fluid and filter. As the fluid warms up, it's viscosity changes.

If the fluid smells fine, then you may be looking at some of the transmission problems others with 2000 and 2001 LS's have experienced. You can search this forum for more details.
