Angry 1997 explorer 4x4

1997 explorer first it would not come out of 4x4, i installed a new 4x4 motor , now it comes out when you get it up to hiway speed but the 4x4 and 4x4low light flash six times, if you turn the switch it will not go into 4x4.if you shut off the vehicle and start over it will be in 4x4 untill you take it out to the hiway. any help?? thank tou

Hi, The 4x4 transfer case has 2 speed sensors in it, They are for the ECM to monitor the front and rear axle speed, Your problem is most likley with one of these sensors, They get contaminated with metal residue as they are a magnetic pick up sensor, You can remove and clean them, They are individual single wire sensors attached with a single bolt.. Take a look, It can't hurt,, Good Luck, Clay.
