1998 Maxima Problem

well this is my first car and im not going to lie i dogged it out a tad, but paying for it now...

now i just would like a cokmfirmation from people that deal with this

i started my car put it in reverse, proceded to back out of driveway, put it in drive pulled up to stop sign and i heard something from the engine or transmission, now i can start the car and rev it up, when i put it in to say drive i hear a turning/grinding noise but it wont do anything, and when i put it back in park i here it like grind down to a stop it seems is that the trannsmission? i have it scheduled to put the car in for a new transmission this week, would like to know what whoever thought aboput it, ive never expirienced this before

and i changed the driver side cv joint since this just for the hell of it lol, do i need to get the passenger side 2?

and yes i know i sound like a idiot i checked the oil and it seems to be way overfilled idk by how much but its real high on dipstick, i had oil changed by a local mechanic shop should i drain it, and could this have caused my current problem in any way,

- the noise comes from hell? stay out...
- new axle doesnt 'fit' =popped out?
- few ppl change 2axles for fun
- engine oil not connected to tranny. If too much, take some out.

Impossible to say online. Points to unfitting axle if problems start soon after axle swap.

Some say there are 'five' different axles available and sold to maxima which do not fit for different reasons, your description looks like this. One problem -type: pops out of tranny axle borings 'soon' after installation. I am not maxima axle expert [u must find one] and cannot tell what the differences are.
