it all starts with a sound...
i was driving home last and i pulled up to a stop sign.
for the first time i heard this rattle sound. its coming from under the car. im thinking it might be transmission related. if i put it in gear and slowly accelerate there is a definate rattle. once actually driving, its fine, its not slipping out of gear, and there is no other sounds. i came home and opened the hood, and there was no sound. had it in neutral tapped the gas, and it sounds almost like a gear isnt catching, maybe somekind of clutch plate...i dont know. its kind of general, i know...but any ideas?? |

Re: it all starts with a sound...
Possibly a heat shield? I know on my car, I just started getting rattling from my whole exhaust. But if you tap on the gas in neutral; it shouldn't effect a clutch of anything from engaging (since there's no gear to engage at that point).
