Shoulders?
Currently I'm just working out at home due to time and keeping myself tight on funds. Push ups, sit-ups(crunches), and free weights are what I've been doing.
What I was wondering is what are some good excercise to work the shoulders. I'm seeing good progress in my chest and bi/triceps, but not quite as much in my shoulders. What do yall recommend? Thanks.

Re: Shoulders?
Multiple options:
Pullups, Military press with dumbells Upright rows ( I do it with a 45lb bar and liek 10-25lbs on each end, grab teh bar in the middle with both hands, let them hang down in front of you, and then lift the bar up along your body to chest/chin level. But you can do it with dumbells. Also dumbell raises, take a dumbell and just lift it with one arm, straight out in front of you. Good for your deltoids and traps.

Re: Shoulders?
there's also the dumbell press, i think that's what it is called. you start with dumbells in each hand and starting at your shoulders you extend your arms above your head. this maybe the same thing as the military press mentioned above.
depending on your setup you can also use the bar for benching to do this. i found that using the bar is more difficult but it seems to work a little better. some people also do shrugs. i like doin them every once in a while but you either need a ton of weight or do a lot of reps to start feeling anything. |

Re: Shoulders?
thanks guys, looked up what yall mentioned to get some visual help as well as talked to a good friend of mine for his opinion. did a little of everything and i can definately feel it in my shoulders. thanks again.
johannes, it's not even just about the money it's about time. by the time i get home from work im exhausted and just want to work out and eat dinner. right now it's just a lot more time saving to do some simple work outs here at the house then fight the machines at the gym. considering everyones there b/w 4 and 8 anways. besides im not looking for excellent results it's more about getting the heart pumping and blood flowing. in the month and a half to two months ive been doing this i've always gotten acknowlegement from people who have noticed improvement. that to me is good enough.

Re: Shoulders?
just remember to switch up the excercises every few weeks, don't let your body adapt to your workout. I know after a few weeks, it didn't matter how much weight i lifted or how many reps i did, my shoulders didn't feel sore or anything the next day.
