97gt weird starting noise

hey
ok whenever i start my car i hear 2 clunks as the motor just starts
any ideass. im thinking upper motor mounts,, but ive been told they never go

Can you see the engine move when the clunk happens? does it sound like it's coming from up high, or down low from around the starter area?

motor dosent move at all
dosent do it all the time
im sure if the starter was lose she'd be makin more noises

It's possible the spring in the solenoid that disengages the starter drive after you release the key is getting weak. The sound you are hearing could be the starter drive bouncing back into the flywheel after the engine is started (if the noise is coming from down low near the starter).
