I just bought a 1995 formula (friday actually) and I have been having problems with it not reving well. It's the LT1, perform tranny, pretty much fully loaded with just 100,000Kms(55,000Miles) on it and it has been meticulesly maintained. What happens is when you drive it hard it won't shift from second to third, just bounces around at 5500RPM. If you back off, it will shift but then does a similar thing at the 3rd to 4th shift. It won't shift, just sits at 155km/h until you lift off then it shifts, drops to 3000 RPM but as soon as you give it a little gas it drops a gear again and won't accelerate. Had the car checked and there isn't a governer in it so I don't get it. Also the other day I left from a light hard, it reved to about 3500RPM and started sputtering and surging. I'm taking it into the dealership on Tuesday because there's no way I'm paying for it after only having the car for 3 days but I would like to know if what they replace is a probable fix.
Thanks Edited: I forgot to mention, I've had 2 different tranny shops take a breif look at it and neither believes that it's a transmission problem. One wasn't sure exactly what it was but the other figured it was a software problem. The second shop only specializes on corvettes. I was thinking maybe optispark/ignition related but that's just a guess Last edited by JiffyBeene; 06-07-2006 at 02:38 AM. |

Re: 1995 Formula won't rev
sounds like something in the transmission..maybe the thing that shifts according to your RPM is broken..its basically a rod with weights..and when you rev, the weights go out...with that and a few other thing..like your TV cable..it changes the shift points..it could be your TV thing too..that checks your throttle.. (correct me if im wrong guys..)
