radio antenna

Hi -
I want to R&R the elec. up 'n' down antenna on the r.r. of my 94 Camry with
an new "old" model which attaches over the driver door.
I've seen mid-90's Camrys with these antennas.
Aside from drilling a hole to mount it, and threading the lead down inside
the panel, etc., are there potential problems with engine noise or poor
reception?
My '90 has this type antenna and NO problems!
