.I reckon Fujumi have there 1/24 scales up the shit.
Now I've yet to see a new typeR in NZ, but have seen plenty of Silvia's and i think the Silvia should be a lot bigger car.
Look at the photo and IMO the TypeR looks alot bigger then the Silvia....what do you think???
Maybe someone from the USA who has seen a TypeR might be able to clear this up.....but i think FUJUMI have stuffed up there scale.

yeah, looks to me like the silvia might be more in scale with a honda crx. maybe this is their new 1/27 scale i always thought that the silvia was a slightly bigger car myself. must be nice to have two nicely completed models side by side to be able to compare

Well... Here are the raw specs:

'99 Nissan Silvia:

Length: 4445 mm
Width: 1695 mm
Height: 1285 mm
Wheelbase: 2525 mm

'02 RSX

Length: 4375 mm
Width: 1725 mm
Height: 1389 mm
Wheelbase: 2570 mm

So...the Silvia is 70 mm longer than the RSX. In scale, the Silvia should be 3 mm longer than the RSX (by dividing the difference by 24). The RSX is wider than the Silvia by 30 mm, or 1.25 mm in scale. The RSX is 104 mm taller than the Silvia, or 4.3 mm taller in scale.

Judging by your pics, I think fujimi did a pretty accurate tooling of both kits. I haven't seen a Silvia up front yet but I have seen several RSX (what we call the new type Rs here in the US) on the streets, and let me tell you they are much beefier than the previous Type R. Just my 2 cents.

The first thing that came to my head was a panel line comparo
But seriously, I think Fujimi have their scales a little messed up. I ordered a set each of fujimi and aoshima 18in rims and they are not the same size. I also reckon my fukimi MR2 should be a little wider, judging from 1:1 MR2s i've seen. Mine looks a little narrow.

I don't believe America have ever received ACTUAL front line Type R's just as the Japs do. Instead, we get GSR, GSX, RS, etc in the previous models of the Integra. Now-a-days, we are fortunate enought to receive Type S, not quite a Type R but its slowly getting there. The only Type R's in America would be the imported ones (excluding engine transplants! ). Just thought I would clarify a little.

The new Integra's (RSX) don't really look so good to my prospective without a few mm of lowering and adition to some swell side skirts and maybe front and rear ones too. Nothing extreme but just to give it a nice flare. I think the Integra is really high as a stock model in real life. The front is lower than the back makes it look weird.

On a lighter note, Fujimi does do some weird things. I really hate the low detail to the headlights, it just takes so much away from the realistic look of the car.

Warren, the best indication is the wheelbase (the easiest to measure). Just measure i on the models and compare to specs

To clarify a little more, 3 years ago I worked for an Acura dealer and we did have a full Type R. This was a separate car from the ones listed above and was only available in white. Later they added them in yellow and black IIRC. They skipped a year in between where they didn't make them. They came direct from Honda with all US emissions and other requirements in place. We only got two in the entire time I worked there. Honda made them only in very small numbers. The horsepower difference between the Type R and the GSR was only 25-50. The Honda rep told me the cars start life as a basic RS and are stripped down, rewelded, and blueprinted. Then all the go fast goodies are added.

Well this what I know...

The GSR has 170hp, the USDM Integra Type R has 195hp basically
the only thing that the type R and the RS motor share is the 1.8L displacment. The Type R is not a stipped down RS that has been rewelded and blueprinted. The Type R has a totally different suspension
and the engine is a VTEC the RS is non VTEC. There is many many differences that seperate the two models.

That's all

Well, I can find ITR blueprints, but no Silvia prints. I can confirm that Dan's dimensions from '99 are the same as '02 for the Silvia...

Maybe I should have been more clear. You are correct that all the drivetrain and suspension pieces are totally different and have nothing in common with the RS. What I was referring to was the rolling chassis. Those do come from the standard RS line. They go over every inch of the unibody adding additional welds to help stiffen the car up. When the cars are reassembled they get more "hand fitting" or "blueprinting" than a standard production chassis.

Again this is coming from the man who was our Honda factory rep at the time. It is only my assumption that he was giving correct information.
