New Car

Hey guys. I'll help break in this new OT forum . I definitely like the new setup.

Well, I replaced all the timing parts and the driver side axle. When I went to fire the GSX I guess it wasn't all properly aligned so I bent all the valves. With the help of Talon69, I'm putting a new head back on and then getting rid of the car. I did, however, take it as my excuse to go out and purchase a car for myself (my first official car purchased on my own dime ).

As you can see in my sig, it's a '03 GT. When I bought it, it had 35k on the clock. My grandparents help me spring for the 3 year/75k mile extension so the car is covered on basically everything bumper to bumper. As much as I'd love to get down and dirty with cars, I just don't live in a good situation to do so, which makes the warranty the most appealing part of the car.

The Stang is definitely slower than my GSX and I'm still getting used to the gearing. It's got a completely different feel to it but I like it. I'm really satisfied with the car. I've already driven it from Orlando to Boston and it was a pleasurable trip. With the GSX, I'd have to stop and stretch every few hours but the stang was a lot more comfortable. I know there aren't too many Ford fans on this forum but I like it. My ex-girlfriends brother is also training to be a ford master mechanic so if I ever do need parts, I get them REALLY cheap. Another plus.

I'll still be around here doing what I can in the DSM community.

Re: New Car

I like the looks of them but I have heard bad things about their craftsmanship. Good thing you got a good warranty.

Re: New Car

Ford does have their reputation . I've always kind of wanted a mustang and I love the growl of the GT.

Re: New Car

I love stangs, but Fords are deffinetely expensive to mod/replace parts. Good thing you will have a dealer hook up.

Re: New Car

Why is everyone hating on Ford? Like a turbo DSM is SOOOO much more reliable....

I personally would buy a Mustang, and the man did get a GT so nothin wrong with that.

Anything else Ford is garbage IMO besides the Ford GT, not because of reliability or craftsmanship but because they are bland and boring. They also focus way too much on trucks to build decent cars. My dad has a 2002 ZX2 and the thing is litterally the biggest POS I have ever driven. I feel like I'm inside a go cart. The transmission is horrible, suspension and ride are equivalent to that of a car from 1982, and the interior is sub-par.

Re: New Car

I just don't like Ford in general. We have a 02 Focus ZX3 that is all modded out and the thing is actually pretty damn quick for a n/a car. I was gonna have it for a DD but decided to get a Monte instead, the Focus just doesn't seem to be built that well, I feel like I'm gonna get blown off the road if I'm driving it on a windy day.

Re: New Car

I agree that any of the other Ford cars are pretty crappy. I'm just glad they did away with the stupid Taurus.

The mustang feels like a totally different driving experience than the Eclipse. I was out driving today and I accidentially squeaked the tires. Never done that before...

I haven't tried yet. I don't feel really comfortable driving the car yet. I want to wait until I feel more comfortable before pushing the envelope. I haven't even taken the car past 4k rpms yet (5.5k redline). Better safe than sorry right.

I'm also trying to figure out the TCS button. I figure when I want to launch hard, I'll have to turn off the traction control but I'm not sure why yet. I want to do some reading as to how exactly the TCS works on the mustang to understand why I don't want it on to launch. I'll experiment.

Re: New Car

its kinda simple, if the tcs is on, it wont allow much wheel spin, but also kills the launch. it controlls the launch basically, and is just a safety feature, wich can be good in many ways, but not in a street race of course

ya know, i had no idea the mustang gt had tcs
