firebird not starting

I have a 1989 pontiac firebird with 5.7... the problem is that the car startsand seems to run for about 2 seconds and then dies out.... i put a new distrubitor and a new coil on the car... any help would be app...

you say it dies out.. how so? does it slowly sputter..and idle really badly then die out..or does it just smoothly turn off.

basically, if its smooth its your ignition..

if its sputtering and shaking..then its prolly your fuel..

I have a 94 firebird i changed the distributor and now it wont start it tries to backfire when i try to start it .I checked my plug wires about 3 times to make sure they were right
