Alright guys, shes had it

Well i knew it was coming the 93 is dead, not puttin it down like she used to, now what do you guys think would be my smartest move?

Rebuild the engine? Drop in a turn key crate engine? IF i rebuild it what would be the best mods for the most H.P, i'd like between 320-380 H.P somethign around there

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks

Re: Alright guys, shes had it

Well, depending on several factors I think you can narrow down your choices.

1- How much $$ do you have to work with?
2- How much work can you do yourself (you building versus you farming out work. you removing/ installing the engine, etc..)
3- How much work can you trade (bad example- maybe you know someone you can paint their fence for them to port the lt1 heads for you)
4- How much time do you have to let your car be down? (do you need it to get to work, or can you afford to let it sit while you work on it?)
5- do you have access to any good deals? (example- maybe you can get a discount on crate engines, or get free machine work, etc..)

The LT1 is a great engine. It has proven long term reliability, proven performance potential and there is a market out there for speed parts/ group of folks who will support this engine.

If you have the time, the resources and the ability to do some wrenching yourself, I'd rebuild the engine. I'd either get a set of AFR heads, or have yours ported. (I'm sure the other brands of heads out there are good, too, but I personally had the AFR heads on my '95 T/A and will speak highly of them)

They sell 383 stroker kits for this engine. I'd look into one of those if the funds permit. Talk to the folks who sell these kits. Tell them your hp goals and they can guide you to the specific pieces you need to reach it.

The advantages of building your engine are this- everything in your car fits this engine. If you swap to an LS1, big block, etc. you'll have to get many new pieces, brackets, etc not to mention the wiring work needed to make everything work again.

I have read some horror stories about "crate" engines form other folks on forums. Stories about volume engines, not receiving the attention to detail a good custom shop will give your engine. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

I hope this is helpful.
