96 SL2 Oil in the Spark Plugs

My Fiance was on her way home today and came to find out that she was low on oil. She said she put a quart in and then came the rest of the way home. When she got there she found that her number 4 spark plug was filled with oil. Any ideas on what might be the problem??? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Re: 96 SL2 Oil in the Spark Plugs

I would have to say that its a valve cover gasket, its common on these saturns. Its a real easy fix to do yourself. Pick one up from a parts store with some high temp RTV sealer. Its the hex bolts on the top of the motor there, two in the back, two on the left side, three down the middle and three in the front and it should pull off for ya. Pull the old gasket off lay the gasket down and put a good line of the sealer around the whole thing, then bolt the cover back down. Simple.

Its most likely the valve cover gasket rings around the spark plug tubes. Its fairly easy to replace- but dont put sealer all around on a rubber gasket. Use just a little at junction points. Like where the cam bearing retainers meet the head- put just a little sealer on either side on the retainer.

Personally, i used it all the way around and it works great, but you dont have to, its just extra protection.
