84 VW Engine Compatibility

I'm looking to replace my 84 Rabbit engine with an updated VW engine. Is it possible to place a 200x Audi engine, and transmission, in the rabbit frame? I'm sure that the engine mounts will need to be readjusted, but wanted to know if the exchange is possible.
