No mix control and drivers side.

I have a really nice Park Ultra that's developed a air conditioning problem. When I have it on A/C it always stays warm on the driver side. It has no control. The passenger side is cold but does not turn warm if I move it to the hot position.

Any Ideas? and is there a way to check for trouble codes on the electronic A/C. It seems I read some place about a button combination to push to retrive codes If there were any codes it would tell me what componet/s is defective.

Thanks
Bruce

Unfortunately, the self diagnostic function will not work on a 97, you will need to have it scanned with a ACC capable scanner. If you do have it scanned, it will tell you if have a blender door actuator fault. More than likley, you do!

Re: No mix control and drivers side.

Before you go tearing through your dash, try adding some freon (well, R-134) to the system. When the refrigerant gets low, the first symptom is usually lack of cooling on the driver's side, while the passenger side stays cold. Lose some more coolant and you lose the passenger side also.

If you charge it up with freon and it still doesn't cool on the driver's side, it may be a blend door problem.

“The passenger side is cold but does not turn warm if I move it to the hot position”.
The quote above, makes this sound more like the blender door actuator or controller vacuum, or lack of it. If the above condition were not the case, then yes, you could need refrigerant. Do not, under any circumstances, add refrigerant to the system without first checking line pressures and evaporator temperature!! If you overcharge the system, you will have other problems!
