reprograming key fob from another car

Hi, I've got a 99 Sable and a fob from a newer model Tarus. Can I reprogam it
for my Sable? It already has rermote keyless entry (fob) of it's own. If I can
how to?

Re: reprograming key fob from another car

Cycle Ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st remote transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter ( up to 4 transmitters total possible ). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Re: reprograming key fob from another car

Somehow rather my 03 Sable lost its program just after opening the trunk. I bought a new battery thinking maybe that was the cause. I ended up registering on this site and found this post. I thought maybe the fob was junk. Ended up needing to be reprogrammed. Thanks for the info
