94 5.7 found problem - how to fix . first time i ever seen this please help !
i found the problem on my truck , the plug wires are jumping fire and the plugs have fire jumping around them . i have put 5 sets of plug wires napa , accel and autolite pro wires on it and same thing fire going up and down 3-4 of the wire's on the driver side . always same wires that jump fire and there is fire glowing around the plugs all 8 of them . this last set of plugs is ac delco and napa 8 mm wires milage plus . it acts like there is too much spark going to the wires and it is jumping but i have tried another distibuter and another module and coil . the miss is due to the fire jumping , but i can't see 5 set's of wires being bad or 5 sets of plugs bad .it is killing my gas milage also , i also took my time to make sure that i didn't over tight the plugs . i am lost as what to do as i have never seen one do this . can anyone please help . this is a 1994 chevy silverado 5.7 4x4 . thanks silver100

What brand of plugs are you running? What gap?
If the plugs themselves are not the issue, then it could be the grounding straps (behind passenger head, also goes to frame). Current will always take the least resistance path. If the resistance on the plugs is large or the insulator is broken, the spark can jump. As a side note, mine is running much better after fixing the loose injector pod. The computer has relearned the block learn and I am happy with it now. Let's hope we can get yours figured out! //2000CAYukon |
