Re: need help with audio
I assume when you are looking at those amps, youre going by the max power- that is meaningless.
You need to look at the rms. As for subs, its really not a good idea to mix sizes like that....... Check out www.caraudio.com for some ideas and also go to www.bcae1.com to learn about mobile electronics. Couple other sites for you to check out: www.reaudio.com www.soundsplinter.com www.elementaldesigns.com www.incriminatoraudio.com www.adireaudio.com |

Re: need help with audio
Personally I dont belive any of those amps could push 2 12's and 1 15. I would stick to getting just the 12's and getting a more powerful amp. The 12's will handle most frequencies that the 15 can except for ultra low, and can hit the high bass notes that the 15 cannot. Just my opinion

Re: need help with audio
Quote:
Max/Peak power is a fake number. It's not ever derived from testing, it is often pulled out of thin air. RMS/Continuous power is the true rating of the amp and is the only wattage number that should be taken into consideration. Mixing the sizes can create problems with airspace, but more than that, odd numbers of subs usually are not a great idea. Unless you can find subs made particularly for an odd configuration (JL makes some 6-ohm subs for use in 3-sub setups for instance, as 3 6-ohm subs wired correctly gives a 2 ohm load), you will be running your amp at a strange impedence and will not be getting the performance you need from the subs or the amp. Most bridgeable amps run best at 2 ohms, while some mono amps are capable of handling 1-ohm loads. Too many people learn the hard way - by burning up amps and blowing subs one after the other. Don't be one of those people. |

Re: need help with audio
Hes what we at work would call " budget Boomers" haha they want the loudest system that will wake your your devlopment w/o spending much money, your best bet like every one else is saying is go with 2 12's that u like then find an amp to match the RMS ratings of the subs together
I think he meant 1 15 OR 2 12's A_State_Balla= if ur looking for it to sound good and last long you will need to dig alot deeper in to your pockets and dont let flashy looks fool you look at numbers, like the RMS ratings they are your freind and go from there It aint cheap to go loud, Or fast

Re: need help with audio
Shopping at the flea market is not the best place to get audio equipment. Ebay my friend is where you will find a budget system that wont sound like ass, wont last a month then quit for no reason, and sure as hell wont be a waste of time and money. I would keep to either the 1-15 setup, or the 2-12 setup not both together.
If you want ass kicking bass then get a solobaric gets loud with between 400-500 watts RMS, and wont sound bad in a good enclosure. Want the best money can buy go to adire audio, or incminator. Stay away from audiobomb, rockford is ok if can afford to spare for the P3's or the power series. Go on to the car audip forum on here and post a thread asking what they would recomend, what you are looking for IE, heart stopping bass, sound quality whatever, and your budget. Those guys will be more than happy to help. http://myweb.cableone.net/grogers/abr.html Look on that webpage its and unofficial car audio brand rating list, yes it might cost 50-100 more a sub or 100 more for an amp but you wont be buying more later because your not happy with the sound. Also dont forget your front and rear stage setups, if you have all bass and no music it will without a doubt sound like shit. If you need more info just IM me on AIM pimprolla112, and im usually on the audio forum alot. Your better off saving the extra 300 or so to get better quality. Ive been through a lot of systems, more is not always better.

Cant remember who posted it but if you see it give yourself credit Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. Cardomain |
