top 5 rally cars of all time

Doing my typical Sunday couching and came across this show.

So here is what the science channel (discovery channels nerdier cousin) says are the top 5 rally cars. And reasons they say why the bottom 3 are not further up on the list. whatch guys think?

5. Ford rs 200 -the 600 hp engine gives you a whopping 10 hours in full throttle before becoming a big burnt-out paper weight

4. Lancer Evo -one of the cheapest feeling/looking cars they've seen

3. Suburu Impreza -the seats are almost impossible to sit in for more than a few minutes (?!)

2. Lancia Stratos -it looked weird and was so powerful it was difficult to drive in the wrong hands (?!)

1. Audi Quatro

How do you have an objective argument when you name the cars so broadly?

There have been 9 generations of Subaru Impreza WRC, which one was the one they didn't like?

Not that I dislike scooby but.. this lis is deltaless: lancia won 5 titles with non chances for everyone else, so...

and talking of teh fifth, great car but... yes was beated from the S4 monster, why not the S4? at least she has enough defects to enter this list

Let me remind you that this isn't my argument. "Objective" isn't the word to use here since this list is more of a subjective arguement (which they liked the most) since they didn't rely on objective measurements for comparison (wins, times etc).

As you did, I questioned in my mind which Evo they were refering to as well as the other cars. But again, this isn't my list nor would I have gone about it in the way they did. I suppose they were trying to speak more to the "blood lines" of the lancer or quattttro (better?) as opposed to one specific gen.

Either way, I thought I would merely present what I saw as a way to start an interesting discussion on a topic we like

Surely the Ford Escort RS and the Mini should at least warrant honourable mention - both still used and winning rallies (not necessarily WRC!) 30/40 yeasr after they first appeared...

When did Discovery do any serious "list" of top something ever?

Like someone said opinions are like that "hole" thing in rear, everyone has one and Discovery guys have extremely large ones when trying to convince people of their "hole" thingies.

If there are Discovery people on board I appologize but I was convinced more then once and if you ask me I would stop doing that "Top ....." shows.

my personal picks for top three in no particulare order

ford RS200- this car came from the insane group b rally class, think of group b like canam only for rally cars. 600 or more horse power from the legendary cosworth engine. 0-60 time or around 3 seconds

porsche 959-winner of the paris dakar rally so much beauty and elegance

Audi quatro- the first 4 wheel drive car and it looked damn nice too. i
