Power Transistor Ohm readings

1992 GSX Eclipse 2.0 Turbo. Have been trying to test my Ignition Power Transistor according to shop manual and they show testing with either continuity or no continuity with applied 1.5 volts on certain pins.
My analog and my digital ohm meters never quite show full continuity as the manual says they should nor do they show no continuity since some ohms always show. Ususally non continutiy means open line and no ohms but I got ohms and ususally continutiy means less than 1 ohm and I have higher ohms. Does anyone know what the deal is. Or is it obvious that its a bad Power Transistor.

sounds like a bad power transistor to me... but before you decide on that, be sure your meter has new batteries... (I’ve made that mistake more then once)

First, make sure your using jumper wires so your touching the pins that need to be touched and not others too by accident. Jumper wires are any type of thin gauge wire with clips or female ends at the other end, very simple to make. Recheck your readings and change your batteries and also test the resistance between the wires from your meters, they might have resistance that would show Ohms. Continuity means theres a connection, the Ohms can range from .1 to infinity, not just under 1.

Thanks Gentlemen for your answers. I did use insulated clips to each contact and then hooked up my meters and 1.5V battery to them. I did not check the resistance of the wires at all but will test them seperately and retest. What bothered me what finding a negitive ohm resistance. I never heard of such a thing and it was on my digital. I tested with an analog but didn't record the readings. Looks like a retest is in order and I'll get back to you with those. Thanks for your help and advice.
