I am having a problem with my 19997 Aerostar. The Brake lights do not come on when the brake pedal is depressed. However the light in the middle at the back comes on. I have check the fuse which is ok. Also when the left or right turn signal are used, the lights do not light up on the front or back nor do the emergency flashers work. I don't know if this is connected to the brake light problem.
Any help would be appreciated as I am lost.

Re: 1997 Aerostar Brake and signal Lights not working
Did you check the bulbs? Did you check to see if power is getting to the sockets? Do you have a wiring diagram?

Re: 1997 Aerostar Brake and signal Lights not working
If the bulbs are good, check the multi-function/turn signal switch. The affected lights run through this switch.

Re: 1997 Aerostar Brake and signal Lights not working
I have a 97 also. I had a similiar problem. I found the spare tire mounted under the van had worn a wire bare and caused a problem with the turn signal not working when the bulbs were ok, and also it seems like the same thing happened with the flashers. -Jim
