Angry grinding sound - front end!!!

2000 gpgt making ginding sound and vibrations that can be felt through the steering wheel, front seats, and gas pedal. I have repalced the front and rear wheel bearings (AC Delco), as well front rotors and pads. The sound is loudest between 20 and 30 km/h. Above 30km.h the sound is like a bad belt in tire. The problem occurs when drivng straight or turning (i.e, changing lanes on highway). It has been suggested possible transmission related problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: grinding sound - front end!!!

you said it sound like a belt in the tire shifted, did you change the tires?

I once heard some one have this proiblem on a different vehicle and it was a problem with the upper strut plates missing all the rubber and grinding.

Heres a list of the other things you may want to invetigate.

look for posible failed engine/trans mounts.

look at cv boots for leaking

check tierod ends for play

also check the lower control arm bushings.

Im sure i missed a few but some of the more knowledgeable members will chime in and fill in the blanks

goodluck
